School meals offered to all students at no cost through 2021-2022

Students should fill out form for reduced programs like athletics, scholarships, etc.

The Renton School District is providing access to nutritious meals for the upcoming school year at no cost for all students, according to a post on the district website.

The National School Lunch Program under the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is a federally assigned meal program to provide nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to children each school day. The program was established under the National School Lunch Act, assigned by President Harry Truman in 1946.

The USDA who will continue reimbursing schools to provide free meals to all students regardless of their income through the 2021-22 school year.

Families are encouraged to still complete a free/reduced-cost meal form for access to many other benefits like reduced costs or waivers for student fees at school and athletic, scholarships, P-EBT, and more. Find the form here.
