Ad Astra goes to Nelsen
On Febuary 1st, the LHS Ad Astra Choir left to perform Lift Every Voice and Sing by James Weldon Johnson and J. Rosamond Johnson at Nelsen Middle School in honor of the start of Black History Month. Written in 1905, Lift Every Voice is concidered to be the black National Anthem in the U.S. The Ad Astra Choir also performed this during our Martin Luther King Assembly.
The performance at Nelsen was also a great chance for Nelsen’s Concert Choir to sing with high school students as well for the seniors in Ad Astra to relive the experience of where they started in choir.
After the performance, the Ad Astra Choir met with Nelsen’s Concert Choir to rehearse and sing as well as talking about the importance of music and the benefits of staying in choir.
