Family First Community Center begins moving earth
The long awaited Family First Community Center next to Cascade Elementary School began site prep work recently. A major step in bringing a community center to the Cascade/Benson area under the vision of former Seattle Seahawk Doug Baldwin Jr.
Baldwin is partnering with the city of Renton, Renton School District and HealthPoint to build-a-state-the-art community center. With a vision to provide youth and families in the area with a community that offers health, wellness, recreational and educational opportunities according to their website.
The partnership launched a community fundraising effort raising over $14 million.
“The day I moved to the Pacific Northwest, I fell in love with an area that has been my home for many years now. The people of Renton are passionate, involved and diverse in culture. My childhood taught me the value of cultivating diversity and community, the family first community center will do just that,” said Baldwin.
Once the center is completed it will offer a unique combination of after-school programs and classes, youth and adult sports, group exercises, personal training; health education along with STEM classes and HealthPoint will provide medical, behavioral health and dental care to local residents.
There is no date for an official opening, but progress with moving earth means the center is well on its way.
