Mr. Las Dulce, a new teacher at Lindbergh High School (LHS) was a former teacher, basketball, and soccer coach at Washington High School in Tacoma ,Washington.
He has chosen to come to LHS after moving to Renton in 2023. Before this school year he taught at Washington High School and Highline High School. He coached C team basketball at LHS last year. Mr. Las Dulce has taught many subjects ranging from Social Studies to Ethnic Studies.
Mr. Las Dulce spent five years in college to become a teacher. His first experience teaching was teaching English language arts to 9th and 11th graders at Washington HIgh school. Mr Las Dulce decided he wanted to be a teacher in his senior year of college.
While interviewing Mr. Las Dulce said “ his favorite thing about teaching is getting to interact with new students.” Mr. Las Dulce said one of the reasons he became a basketball coach was because it was one of his favorite sports but that he’s a better coach than a player.
One of the reasons Mr. Las Dulce became a teacher was because his first choice in college was being in finance but didn’t like all the math that came with it. He saw being a teacher as an option when he realized he would have summers off and he would be able to move around.
Before Mr. Las Dulce became a teacher he was a paraeducator. Mr. Las Dulce said if he could teach anywhere “ he would teach somewhere hot and on a beach so maybe in Hawaii.”
Mr. Las Dulce is originally from South Carolina but moved to Washington when his stepdad got stationed here. Mr. Las Dulce often visits his home town in the summer.
