Before moving into the long-awaited winter break, let’s discuss the last spirit week of 2024.
Freshmen president, Rieka Salaveria enjoys having spirit weeks. She believes that spirit weeks are a good way to involve students in school if they can participate. Spirit weeks get students out of their comfort zones, help build creativity, and are overall just a fun event that all students can participate in.
Jala Rivera, Class of 2027 Secretary, says it is fun to watch what LHS students put together but cannot say whether most LHS students enjoy having spirit weeks. Jala says spirit weeks can bring people together, it’s a good way to build community, and it can especially be enjoyed by students who like to go all out.
Junior Class President Jordyn Soriano loves showing spirit and hopes other students do, too. Jordyn believes that spirit weeks can encourage students to open up, be funny with their ideas, and go all out.
Timote Kaifoto, Class of 2025 Treasurer has expressed that he finds seeing different outfits from all the students fun. Timote also believes that spirit weeks give an opportunity to be a part of the school’s community and have fun. Timote states, “..It’s an easy way to start a conversation..” As it gives kids with common “costumes” or outfit ideas a chance to interact with each other and bond with each other.
As this spirit week wraps up we want to know your thoughts, so leave a comment sharing what you think could be changed or just how you feel about spirit weeks. You can also just send some common ideas for future themes like anything but a backpack, meme days, white lie, and many others! Those are just a few from your student body so feel free to comment your ideas and be the change you want to see in the world!
