Alan, an 18-year-old senior at Lindbergh High School, had a standout swimming season, qualifying for state in multiple relays and helping his team secure both the league and district championships. His dedication and hard work played a major role in their success his teammateJosiah placed 2nd in state.
Their victories highlighted their commitment, rigorous training, and strong team bond. Alan takes great pride in his personal growth, improving his times in every event. The friendships he built with teammates played a crucial role in his success, as they pushed each other to be better every day, both in and out of the pool.
Beyond competition, Alan values the mentorship he received. His favorite coach, Coach Aaron, worked with him for four years, shaping him as both an athlete and an individual. Alan says, “Always keep your eyes forward and never to the side.” This mindset, along with Coach Aaron’s guidance, helped him develop resilience, discipline, and a strong work ethic that will benefit him beyond swimming.
Despite his love for the sport, swimming had its challenges. The toughest part for Alan was the grueling Christmas break practices, which pushed him to his limits. Training while most students were on vacation required immense discipline, but he believes it ultimately made him stronger, more determined, and prepared for life’s challenges.
While swimming has been a significant part of Alan’s life, he does not plan to continue the sport beyond high school. Instead, he will focus on college and building a stable career. The lessons he learned—teamwork, perseverance, and commitment—will help him succeed in any path he chooses.
