Starting high school can be scary but at Lindbergh freshmen don’t have to do it alone. Eagle Crew is a club of juniors and seniors who help new students adjust. They answer questions, give tours, and make sure freshmen feel welcome in their new school environment.
“Eagle Crew is a club used to help freshmen around mostly during their first couple months and get them used to the high school experience,” said Jalicia, a current member. “If the freshmen have questions they feel teachers or adults can’t answer, we are there to answer it for them.”
Members have important responsibilities. “Our job is to make sure the freshmen come to Lindbergh comfortable and also with ease,” Jalicia explained. Mykah, another member, added that members must be “welcoming, helpful, and a leader.” Their goal is to make sure freshmen feel supported from day one.
Many students join Eagle Crew to get more involved in school. “I thought I should be more involved with the school, and Mr. Virden told me it would help me become more social,” Jalicia shared. Mykah agreed, saying it helped her with “time management and public speaking.” Both members said they feel more confident because of Eagle Crew.
Eagle Crew isn’t just about helping freshmen it’s also fun. Jalicia’s favorite memory was Freshman Flight, where members gave tours and played games. Mykah loved commissioner bonding. These experiences bring members closer together and make high school more enjoyable.
Students who are “kind, open-minded, and adaptable” make great Eagle Crew members. “There are very few chances like this, and I believe it really does give you a different perspective on everything,” Jalicia said.
