For September to May, the Rotary Club of Renton elects a student from a Renton School District high school; for December, Sharafuddin Majed was recognized for his accomplishments.
Majed, currently a senior, who attended all four years at Lindbergh, contributed to the creation of Muslim club and through that, led an Eid event for the Muslim students. During the meetings, Majed educates attendees on Muslim tales, considering the acceptance of non-Muslims too.
Community is very important to Majed; at Cascade Elementary School, he is a part of a group of multilingual students that do activities with young children to help them connect with each other through heritage; applying his own life experiences as well to assure students from feeling unacknowledged.
Outside of school, Majed runs a window tinting business and leads classes for the language, Farsi. As a native speaker, he is able to help speakers and learners of all levels; in these classes, he is able to strengthen the Farsi speaking community in Renton and beyond through online videos.
These videos express his passion for his heritage and important people from Afghanistan; He is grateful he had opportunities to come to the United States, he wants to educate others about having compassion.
“Lindbergh is a really awesome school, there is a lot here.” stated by Majed. Throughout his years at Lindbergh, classes that incorporate photography and construction obtained most of his interests, providing him with good high school memories.
Something he wants to see happen at Lindbergh is boy’s volleyball. Majed’s service to other students and himself shows the change he wants to make in our community, displaying a quality role model for the students of Lindbergh High School.
