Baseball, Fastpitch and Soccer secure league titles

The outgoing seniors surprised head coach Larry Laliberte with a small bath of cold water during their senior night events. Coach Laliberte is retiring after 16 years at the helm.

After losing out on last season, the Class of 2021 took control during the spring sports season. Baseball, Fastpitch and Boys Soccer earned their first 2A KingCo League titles in the 5-week season.

Baseball – After winning the SPSL North Division two years ago, the baseball reclaimed the KingCo title going 7-1 overall with a 3-1 record over Highline. Those win placed the Eagles 6th overall amongst 2A schools and 22 overall in the state according to MaxPreps. All four seniors of Blake Dompier, Parker Duncan, Spencer King and Riley Wagner contributed to multiple hits including to long bombs by Dompier. The season also capped off Head Coach Benny Benavides’ 20th season at Lindbergh, nearly his 200th win.

Boys Soccer – Senior Captain Yonas Mekonnen dominated the 2A Kingco League with total goals on the season. The Eagles with 7 seniors finished with 8 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie. The 1-0 loss to Foster was a physical game that carried over to the last game of the season where the Eagles won 3-1 on their home turf.

Fastpitch – The four dominating seniors of Valenica Langingi, Lilliana Ramirez, Ellie Callies and Maylea Harris lead the way for the Eagles to a 15th overall ranking by Maxpreps of 2A Fastpitch teams. The girls finished the season 5-1 with several games cancelled.

Girls Tennis – Despite the shortened season, the girls tennis program is young despite only losing two seniors.

Track and Field – Senior Christian Lucas led the league in the 110 meter hurdles going 16.62, nearly four seconds faster than the next person. He also had the second fastest time in the 300 meter hurdles. The boys 4 x 100 meter relay team of Kyle Mallary, Fulton Greenhow, Allan Bui and Alexander Bui posted the fasted time in the league at 47.08 on June 9.

Devon Sanberg and Greenhow tied with the highest high jump of five feet-size inches. Joshua Blesener had the further triple jump of 39 feet-5 inches. The girls track team had personal records in several events for Lauren Jones and Gloria Gonzalez
