Peregrine Falcon

Last week we learned of the fossa and the weird origin of how they came to be named (hidden butthole), but this week you are going to learn about one of the coolest yet deadliest animals in the skies. Starting off week 2s animal of the week, we got one of the fastest animals to walk the planet, or fly in this case. Google search might show you the cheetah but the real king of speed is the peregrine falcon.
How fast is the peregrine falcon? This hyper-aggressive eagle can swoop down to about anything the size of a dog and kill it almost instantly. The peregrine falcon is renowned for its speed because when hunting their prey, they dive down at 200 miles per hour and catch it mid-air making it the fastest member of the animal kingdom. It helps in their hunt that their eyes are better than humans by eight times. They can see prey 2 miles away and they precisely swoop down and catch it with little to no difficulty. Not only are they fast, but also dedicated.
It has been recorded that they can migrate to as much as 15,500 miles for food or to just mate. These birds go half the continent to get some play. As some birds only use their sharp talons, this speed demon of a creature uses a sharp tooth in the back of their beak to snap the necks of their captured prey. They are so useful in hunting that past civilizations made up something called falconry which is just training these devils to go hunt for them. In some places today, you can go and look at them up close. What do you think about this animal?
