We’re already reaching the homestretch of 2022 and a lot of movies have already come out since the beginning of the year. Let’s see what’s in store for the rest of the year and the films upcoming next year.

Earlier this year some highly anticipated films have been released such as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness by Marvel, and Lightyear by Pixar. Both films have received an okay review of 7/10 for the former and a 6/10 for the latter on IMDb. It’s only natural that people are antsy for a memorable flick before the year ends, so let’s see what’s coming out these next few months before the year ends.

• Here are some overviews of the most anticipated upcoming films for this and next year:
  • Black Adam is dropping on the 21st. Check out the separate review posted on the site! Black Adam is being played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and it will be about an anti-hero using his powers that the gods bestowed for vengeance.
  • Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the sequel film to the first Black Panther movie. It will be about the aftermath of King T’Challa’s death (AKA the Black Panther) and how they must fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers. The film will also show the first appearance of Marvel characters Namor and Ironheart. It’s unfortunate that Chadwick Boseman passed away before he could have gotten a sequel, though hopefully, the film will live up to the legacy that he gave the Black Panther character. The film will be released on November 11th, 2022.
  • A surprising film coming out this year is the sequel to the highest-grossing film of all time, Avatar: The Way of Water. It’s been 13 years since the last movie so it’s fascinating that they’ve decided to continue this original property. The plot will be about Jake leaving his home alongside his family to explore the regions of Pandora, but when an ancient threat resurfaces, Jake must fight a brutal war against the humans.
• Now, onto upcoming 2023 movies:
  • One of the most anticipated films next year is, of course, The Super Mario Bros Movie which is being produced by Illumination. Although they have a reputation for making subpar films, they surprised us all by revealing the teaser on the Nintendo Youtube channels, and unexpectedly, everyone had a positive reception to it. I’m excited to see Jack Black’s portrayal of Bowser and Charlie Day’s Luigi. It’s set to release on April 7th of 2023.
  • One last film that I’ll be mentioning here as an upcoming film for next year is the MCU’s first Phase 5 film, Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame Scott Lang has become a celebrity for saving the Earth through his time travel. The film will also be starring Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror who will be one of the main antagonists in the film. Marvel and Disney have been under fire recently for overworking their Visual Effects department and also creating mediocre Marvel content recently so hopefully, the film somewhat meets our expectations. Keep an eye out for this Superhero, Adventure, Fantasy when it drops on February 17th, 2023.
