In Colorado, November 19th 2022, we have lost several people in an area that’s supposed to be a fun and inclusive place. A total five people have lost their lives in the LGBTQ+ Club shooting and twenty-five were injured.

There are still some recovering and still traumatized by the shooter. The shooter, Anderson Lee Aldrich, has been found and sentence to five murder charges. Anderson Lee Aldrich is a twenty-two year old that is caucasian male with round-sharp facial features. He walked into the club with a long rifle with two other firearms at the scene. At least two people inside the club confronted and fought the gunman and prevented further violence, Vasquez said. “We owe them a great debt of thanks,” (CNN) Many people are in great despair from this accident and there are a couple who gave us some words.

Fierro, a 15-year U.S. Army veteran who owns a local brewery, said he was celebrating a birthday with family members when the suspect “came in shooting.” Fierro said during a lull in the shooting he ran at the suspect, who was wearing some type of armor plate, and pulled him down before severely beating him until police arrived.“I tried to save people and it didn’t work for five of them,” Fierro said. “These are all good people. … I’m not a hero. I’m just some dude.” quoted by Fierro. (APNEWS)

Fierro just wanted to celebrate a birthday with family which is supposed to be a happy, joyful time but instead had to end the night worrying about his and his family to make it out alive.

Another witness, Cheyenne Schulman age twenty, feels like this shooting specifically was an assault on the LGBTQ+ community. She feels unsafe to go outside anywhere, without telling her mom the words “I love you” cause the world is uncertain for danger. (NBC NEWS)

There are dozens of shootings all over the world which result in deaths, people missing the dead loved ones, and the shooters with a sentence. According to statistics, since New Years of 2022 there have been 606 mass shootings specifically in the USA this year. In conclusion, this community being violated along with many others, this is not the first time a shooting has happened at something that should be safe, educational, or/and friendly.
