On Saturday, February 8th, our Lindbergh Girls Varsity Basketball team had their senior night. The event was held at Lindbergh immediately following the Boys’ Varsity game against Evergreen. Both boys’ and girls’ basketball seniors enjoyed a memorable night.
Senior Carlynn Walston shared her heartfelt reflections on the night:
“Being a part of basketball has impacted me a lot, it’s taught me a lot of skills I’m going to take into life after highschool! I loved our senior night. Even though we didn’t have a game to play after our senior night, I was still so grateful for my teammates for putting it together. Tears were flowing! I’ve learned no matter how good or bad your team is, you have to stick to it and be consistent in order to become better! During senior night I didn’t think I was gonna cry, but when they called my name and I saw all the gifts the team put together made me break down. It finally hit me that my last highschool season was coming to an end, and I’m gonna miss it so much.”
Senior Oniee Gradin-Core also shared her response:
“The team impacted me by always being positive and pushing myself to be the best I can. I will probably miss the fun practices we have and our team bonding. I felt a little sad that we didn’t get a game for senior night but I still enjoyed every part of it. A moment I won’t forget will probably be from this year when I did a spin move and made a basketball right before the game ended. I was excited and a little sad that I won’t ever play basketball again in high school. One advice I would give for future players is that basketball is a tough sport, there’s gonna be days where you play amazing and days where you don’t do as good. But what really matters is that you have fun no matter how you’re playing.”
Both seniors’ reflections capture the joy, growth, and bittersweet emotions of their high school basketball journey, a celebration of teamwork, resilience, and the lasting bonds formed on the court.
