The Lindbergh boys basketball team had their senior night on February 8th, 2025, against Evergreen High School. The Eagles were originally scheduled to play on the 27th of January, but the game was postponed twice. Though the date was changed many times, the Eagles and the squad were fired up, ready to play, and came out on top with the score being 55-39.
Suheyb Hassan is a 6´6 wing who led the team in scoring had the highest amount of points out of all the seniors. Suheyb was asked a couple of questions about the night, ¨Junior year, at the White River Classic tourney, and I got my first dunk was my favorite memory.¨ Hassan started on C-team his freshman year and worked his way up to becoming one of Lindbergh´s best players. ¨ Coach Abe trusted me, and now look at me, now I´m a dog¨ – Hassan said.
John Chuol is a 5’7 point guard who is ranked in the top 25 in Washington for assists per game while also chipping close to 13 ppg. His ability to pass and score at a high level while being at his height shows how much talent Chuol really has. Chuol was asked some questions about the night, ¨It made me think back about my favorite memory of my high school career, and it was when the 23′-24′ team went to Portland, OR, and played in the Moda Center. Unfortunately, our record doesn’t show how good we really are, but just trust how far we are going to make it,” Chuol said.
RJ Westgaard is a 6´3 power forward who makes his presence known when getting on the court. His size and physicality dominates everyone that gets in his way. He doesn’t get too much playing time, but when he does, he shows how much he can positively impact the team. RJs highest point games were against Todd Beamer (8 points) and Newport (6 points).
All the seniors were happy with their season overall due to the fun and family-like experience. The class of 2025 boys basketball players are happy to have ended their careers making it to state as the 16th seed. Their season started with them being 1-6, truly a run that would be unforgettable to everyone including the coaches. The team went far because they played like a team, everyone was so close to one another that it didn´t matter that they didn´t win it all, but they were happy to have played with the teammates that they did for their final season.
