New Shang Chi Movie Review
Spoiler Free review of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Shang-Chi and the legend of the Ten Rings, Brings a new style of film to the MCU. In a very good way. Shang-Chi introduced a new style of action and story telling to comic book movies, adding a pleasing martial arts style to marvel movies, the best action yet to the marvel universe. Actor Simu liu, does a great job adding great emotion and depth to the character of Shang-Chi.
Simu Liu as mentioned before shows his range of Martial Arts skills throughout the movie showing his range of fighting. It was very easy to tell that all the fighting was done by him, no trickery or stunt doubles involved in the one on one fights. One thing however that did pull me out of the fights was that they would often ruin the fight sequence with CGI, for instance the first fight of the film took place on a bus and the first half was very eye catching because it was just a fight on a bus between trained martial artists, Until the CGi kicked in with glowing swords and the bus being cut in half.
However it did not completely ruin the fights. However that did not completely ruin the film nor did none of the other small issues, such as humor forced at times but I’ve come to expect that with marvel films. I did extremely enjoy the story of the film. The first half of the film just kept moving forward with no gaps, then at the middle of the film we got a needed break to explore all the characters’ motivations and characteristics, with just enough action through the film to keep it interesting. The Best Part of the film was Tony Leung as Wen Wu or better known as the real comic adaptation of the mandarin. The story did a great job of convincing the audience to somewhat agree with Wen Wu’s motivation with a convincing motivation and story. All together I would Give Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings a 8.5/10.
