Softball season is finally kicking off, bringing excitement, fresh opportunities, and new challenges for players, who are eager to embrace the season ahead.

Mia Harris, a junior who is thrilled about the opportunity to start a brand new season. “I am very excited at the prospect of a whole new season with new people and a fresh start,” she shared. For Mia, this season brings a unique challenge, as she will be splitting her time between two positions, first base and center field. Mia has also set high expectations for herself, hoping to make an even bigger impact on the game. Her goals for the season? “I really want to hit a home run this year, raise my on-base percentage, and steal more bases,” she said. With hard work and determination, she’s ready to push herself to new heights. With her positive mindset, growing skill set, and determination, Mia is ready to take on the season and make the most of every game.

For Raylyn Pocaigue, this season is special; it’s her final high school season, and she’s determined to make it count. Her biggest goal? Earning First Team Utility Player. Known for her versatility, Raylyn prides herself on making an impact wherever she’s needed. What keeps her motivated throughout the season? “There are so many reasons, I couldn’t count them all on my hands,” she said. “But I remind myself that there are people looking up to me, and I have expectations to set for myself and my peers.” More than anything, Raylyn loves the individual accountability that softball demands. “It’s very self-dependent,” she explained. “If you miss a ball, if you strike out, you keep yourself accountable the most in softball, and it can bring out your own skill level instead of relying on your team to pass you the ball.” As she steps onto the field for her final season, Raylyn is ready to leave everything out there no regrets, just passion and determination.
With their first game coming up on Friday, March 14th, both athletes are ready to embrace the challenges of the season and give it their all.
