Lindbergh High School’s boys’ soccer team is more than just a group of athletes; they are a family united by a shared passion. The team aims to demonstrate remarkable unity, a crucial element that contributes to their success. Players have forged strong bonds through training sessions and team-building activities, fostering a sense of friendship.
Under the guidance of dedicated coaches, the team has embraced rigorous training that emphasizes skill development, fitness, and teamwork. Senior Beakal Tibebu says that coaches have a “Word of the day, they try to teach us something new every day.” Their coaches have implemented a structured training schedule that includes drills and scrimmages in order to focus on passing, shooting, and defensive strategies. Multiple players say their motive to continue playing soccer is due to their teammates.
They make the game enjoyable and this unity has not only translated into better performance during games but has also created lasting friendships among the players. They say some of their favorite moments in past seasons have been “Teambonding, team dinners and bus rides.”
As the season begins, the Lindbergh boys’ soccer team hopes to embody the spirit of teamwork, showcasing their dedication to both the sport and each other. They had their first game of the season on March 14th against Hazen High School, with the Junior Varsity team winning 7-3 and the Varsity team winning 4-1. They aim to try their best and continue to have an excellent season while also enjoying it and having fun.
