LHS Graduation ices T-Birds from arena

Tonight’s Lindbergh graduation at ShoWare Center in Kent forced the Seattle Thunderbirds to change its Western Hockey League Championship Game six back to Edmonton. Just as the Class of 2022 walks into ShoWare, the T-Birds will be finishing the first period looking to tie the series 3-3, forcing a game seven.
Normally the series would be 2-3-2 with the Thunderbirds having three home games. However with Renton Schools graduating today, it created a unique 2-2-3 game series. The Thunderbirds will be the home team. Other venues are also hosting graduation or music events, so moving the game to another venue wasn’t an option.
It’s not known how much revenue the Thunderbirds would lose, without a home game. Games three and four have been near sell-outs. The SnoWare Center is owned by the city of Kent.
