After months of practices and competitive matches, the Lindbergh High School JV girls tennis ended its 2026 season on April 24, reflecting on growth in skills, confidence, and teamwork.
Players said the season helped them improve individually while also strengthening the team through daily practices and matches against other schools. Abegail Del Mundo, who played as a doubles receiver during early points of matches, said the experience boosted her confidence and motivated her to return next season.
“I feel more confident playing tennis,” Del Mundo said. “ I improved a lot this season, and it made me want to join again next year.”
She also described the team environment as supportive, saying teammates consistently encouraged one another during practices and matches.
“The tennis players are very supportive and enjoy being together during practices and matches,” she said.
Ysabelle Balayan said the team focused on improving serves, communication, and match strategies during after school practices, which helped them perform better during competitions.
“We worked on our serves, communication, and overall skills, which helped us play better in matches,” Balayan said.
Del Mundo said one of her biggest challenges was overcoming nervousness during matches, especially when the ball came toward her.
“Whenever the ball came toward me, I had hesitation about what I should do,” she said. “Everything felt blurry, but I told myself I could do it and hit next time.”
Players also said team encouragement helped them stay focused and positive during difficult moments in matches.
One of the most memorable matches was against Renton high school, where Del Mundo and her partner recovered from a near loss to win. Players also said building friendships with JV and varsity teammates was one of the highlights of the season.
