AJ Sellem is a paraeducator here at Lindbergh high school. He coaches wrestling and football, and is one of the youngest staff members.
When Sellem was a student at LHS from 2015-2019 he participated in wrestling, football, and track. He decided to start working here because he has learned a lot of lessons at LHS. Sellem says “It’s nice to do the same and give back to the community.”
Some of his favorite things about LHS is that it has a lot of great and supportive staff. Overall, a great community to be in. Before working at LHS, Sellem went to college in Spokane.
Senior Via Pelo also known as “V”says, “It feels secure and nice to have a family member working at school, having someone to talk to and having familiarity.” Pelo also says “I think AJ is doing good in school and as a coach, I can tell he’s trying to be good and he always asks if there’s other ways he can improve.”
Sophomore Dameon Ellis says “Coach AJ is becoming a big contributor to the football team, he always knows what he’s talking about and is always bringing positivity to the teams.”
Senior Furious Martinez says, “He’s doing great as a coach, gets along with the younger players and takes time to get to know everyone.”
Jackie Dempesy, a teacher at LHS says, “Coach AJ is very passionate about being an educator.” Dempsey describes Sellem as “Kind, Compassionate, relatable and approachable”.
Coach AJ has proven to bring trustworthiness and positivity to LHS according to both staff and students. Both students and staff are grateful to have someone as approachable as Coach AJ.
