As the school year comes to a close, it’s time to acknowledge another one of our teachers who won’t be returning to Lindbergh next year.
Kamaria J. Smith has been working as a special education independent learning classroom teacher for the last four years. Born in Ohio but raised in Atlanta, Smith is planning to leave Lindbergh and move back to Georgia to continue teaching special needs students.
Starting her career in the school industry as a paraeducator, Smith found a passion for teaching special needs students and decided to continue teaching them following her teaching license acquisition, which she has been doing for the past 19 years.
Due to her husband being in the military, she is used to moving every four years as her husband moves for work, which is why she is leaving Lindbergh. Mrs. Smith’s favorite memory here at Lindbergh was the staff field day with the Army, where the teachers formed teams and competed in Army PT drills. Smith’s team came in 3rd overall, which she took pride in.
During her employment here, Smith said, “I’ve really enjoyed my time here,” and that she was happy with her experience being an ILC teacher in Renton.
