Jennetta Blake is the athletic and activities manager for Lindbergh High School. She moved to Lindbergh because she was looking for an athletic position with a diverse community and kids.
Ms. Blake was born in Bedford, Ohio then moved to Steilacoom, Washington. And went into the Steilacoom School District. She was born deaf in her right ear, during her childhood she was reserved and often kept to herself. She saw a flyer for a cheerleading team, then she joined the team.
Ms. Blake’s uncle worked as a middle school baseball coach and high school basketball coach. Her aunt was a cheerleading coach for her high school. She believes participating in cheerleading changed her personality, being positive, her perspective and who she was, also running cross country in sophomore year.
Blake participated in competitive cheerleading for eight years. Similar to AAU she traveled around the country competing in multiple competitions. Her last year competing, she was second place at the world cheerleading championship. She took a break for one year and cheered for two years at Pacific Lutheran University for her junior and senior year.
Before moving to Lindbergh she was in a more support role for other staff, instead of mainly working with kids. While being a coach she won four state trophies. She won two at Steilacoom, one at Newport and one at Emerald Ridge. She hopes she can bring that to Lindbergh.Â
She is motivated to work at Lindbergh because she can help support a less privileged school and help kids that struggle at home, not happy with both or one parent. She is happy being able to work with students with her similar background.
