Mulan munoz and dafnee sanchez are the officers in the mental health club at Lindbergh High School. They are looking to support LHS eagles with mental health.
The mental health club was created because it’s used to help provide a safe space to talk about struggles and get resources that help support their struggles in mental health. The club also provides techniques and forms of entertainment to help during stressful situations and places.
Weekly, the officers hold discussions in the club and talk about new ways to relieve stress and suggest gadgets that can be used as a distraction from certain thoughts. The club also talks about upcoming fundraisers, drives, and events that help more than just LHS students.
Reasons why this club is important to Lindbergh is because it gives students a place to relate to one another without judgement, the mental health club is a welcoming space for students to be free with their words and open with what’s on their mind.
Sanchez became an officer for the mental health club because she realized that Lindbergh High School needed more people and resources that revolved around helping out with students’ struggles. Munoz felt a strong connection to the Mental health club and wanted to support his peers.
A fun and recent experience described by Sanchez from mental health club was a slime day. While all the participants were making slime, the President bought the wrong materials to complete the slime and bought nose spray instead of activator which made the glue look like water. Everyone was confused at first but had fun in the end.
Sanchez’s advice to Eagles with mental health struggles are, “Know that you have resources to help you overcome whatever challenges you have and that you can talk to any staff member or adult and students so that you can feel better.”
