Governor Inslee Orders Educators to be Vaccinated

Staff, Coaches and Volunteers must be fully vaccinated by October 18 as a condition of employment.

Washington State Governor Jay Inslee announced today. All Washington state educators, staff, coaches and volunteers must be vaccinated by October 18 as a condition of employment. “This includes bus drivers and others working in school facilities,” said Inslee. Only those with medical or religious beliefs will be accepted to not get the vaccine. Personal choice or philosophy will not be an acceptable form of exception.This comes on the heels of a continued rise in the Delta Variant.

Governor made it very clear “if you don’t comply you won’t be employed. It’s legally binding and will be enforced.”

According to August 18 King County Public Health COVID-19 summary shows the Renton School District is at 327.9 per 100,000 cases in a 14 day period. Within the city of Renton its 411.9. Less than a month earlier the city hit 7,000 cases. Since then 657 more cases have been recorded.

Face masks are already required indoors at all schools including Lindbergh. Restrictions on outside athletics do not need to wear a mask especially in competition. Once an athlete is on the sidelines, masks are required just as coaches.
