Lindbergh High School Students Learn to Make a Difference in Environmental Science
At Lindbergh High School, students in Ms. Moran’s Environmental Science class are learning how to make a difference in the world one project at a time The class which also offers college credit, focuses on sustainability and the importance of protecting the environment. Students gain real world experience while exploring how science connects to their everyday lives.
Ms. Moran has always had a passion for teaching and enjoys showing students how their actions can impact the planet. Her goal is to help students understand how science applies beyond the classroom and how small changes can create big results. Student Ryan Bui says “it’s one of my favorite classes because of the labs we do”.
Throughout the semester, students study topics such as sustainable farming renewable energy, recycling, and the effects of pollution. They participate in hands on projects like planting, testing soil and researching environmentally friendly farming methods. These activities help students see how human choices affect natural systems and how to reduce pollution, conserve water and protect resources for the future.
Many students say the class has helped them look at the environment in new ways and has encouraged them to think about sustainability in their daily routines. The course also gives students the opportunity to earn college credit preparing them for future studies in science and agriculture.
Ms. Moran hopes her students take what they learn into the real world. “The goal is to inspire them to make choices that lead to a cleaner and healthier planet,” she said. Through her teaching, she continues to motivate students to take responsibility for the environment and understand the role they play in protecting it.
