Today the ASB (Associated Student Body) answered questions about the future of ASB, what they want from students, and how things are going so far.
Their next event will be November 7th, the Veterans day assembly. You can also be on the lookout for future fundraisers and anything like that via the ASB Instagram page. All of the events have gone smoothly so far.
But they want to see more from students. What they all agreed on was having more participation and more feedback on what they can do for students. The best way to show support for ASB is by participating and engaging with the social media posts.
Advertising to your peers is also a great way to support, but the most important thing according to Sweetman, “Class of 2029 GET HYPE!”. More excitement during pep rallies, more energy during assemblies, and overall more effort from the freshmen. After all, Dhakal said, “Lots of labor goes into planning these events, and it’s all for them”.
A lot of planning goes into these activities. They get together in class to find stuff they like and agree on it, as well as having “debriefs” from any event to take in what they learned and how to improve. It’s easier said than done. “Executing it is easy, but coming up with ideas is harder to please everyone”, Tesfay said.
To them, it’s worth all the effort of planning. To Tesfay, “the best part of planning is seeing it all come together and seeing everyone have fun”. Being a team and being able to share ideas, while also getting feedback, makes them enjoy their jobs.
Dhakal, the class secretary, enjoys her role because she enjoys sitting back and taking in the meeting through notes. The PR (Public Relations) officer likes to hear people’s point of view on the posts he makes, and Lew likes to communicate and help others as the vice president. They’re excited for what’s next to come!
