Axel Gaytan Morales, Norman Pineda, and Xavier Drake are all graduating seniors from Lindbergh High School. Their school isn’t their common ground though, they also share a soccer field.
Axel Gaytan Morales played midfield on the boys varsity soccer team. Morales has had his fair share of good moments, such as beating Foster High School his sophomore year to go to finals. Morales advises that this was partially made possible by having fun and enjoying the season.
Morales goes on to state, “ don´t think too much about winning or it’s going to ruin your whole mentality. ” Throughout his highschool soccer career, Morales has always been determined to never give up and always give it his all.
Norman Pineda also played midfield on the boys varsity soccer team. Although the young man’s plans are to attend The University of Washington to study marketing, there are many takeaways from his experience playing at Lindbergh.
Pineda states that, ” soccer provided me with a different view in terms of becoming disciplined. ” Discipline may have been Pineda´s takeaway but he also gives insight stating that “ practice makes perfect; ” encouraging younger players to hustle.

Xavier Drake played both center back on the boys varsity soccer team. As a senior Drake advises younger players that, ” even if you don’t get varsity first or second year, just keep trying and practicing. You`re going to get it eventually. ”
One thing he will miss is the people, “ I’ve known these guys for like four years, including club. It’s gotten me fit, made all my friends, and overall made me happier my entire life. “ The senior leaves the Lindbergh field with a positive experience.
Senior soccer players don’t just leave a jersey behind, they leave an imprint on each person on that field and the ones to come. The lessons and feedback they gave younger players is passed down, so even when they walk the graduation stage, the effects of their presence remains.
